Men’s Divisions

All three of our under 11 teams played this weekend with our Green team taking on Altona and earning a very hard fought win over them with a final score of 12-10.  Leading the team in scoring for the day was Samuel Tonelli and leading the team in assists was Harrison Lester.  Our silver team took on a strong Williamstown team this weekend and unfortunately came up short with a 3-14 loss but has hopes of training hard this week and hopefully going to get in the win column next weekend.  The leading point scorers for the day were Lillian Walsh and Isabelle Thomas with 1 goal 1 assist each.  Our final under 11 team took on Wyndham this past weekend and came out with a very convincing 36-1 victory showing that they are a tough team to beat.  The point leaders for this game were Jack Gerardi with 10 goals and 5 assists and Jake Mannix with 9 goals and 6 assists.  All three teams are back in action on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 9:00 am.

Our under 13 team had a tough match up this past weekend matching up against MCC Hampton.  Both MCC Hampton and Footscray played a very hard and tight game with the game ending in a 6-6 draw.  The teams point leaders for this game were Spencer Walsh with 3 goals and 2 assists and Benjamin Kiely with 2 goals and 1 assist.   The team looks to bounce back next week as they take on Eltham away on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 9:00am at Lower Eltham Park 1.

The under 15 team played this past Saturday at home taking on a good Camberwell team.  The team started out fast with some nice goals and never looked back from there earning an 11-1 victory.  Excellent play on both sides of the ball as well as in between the lines helped them earn this one-sided victory.  The teams point leaders in their victory were Kyle Chamberlain with 5 goals and 1 assist, Patrick Manning and Elliot Johns both contributing with 2 goals.  They look to keep this style of play up as they take on Moreland away on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 10:30am at Fleming Park 1

The under 17 combined team of Altona/Footscray boys played this past weekend against Williamstown.  This was a very hard fought match between the two squads ending in a 3-6 loss.  The team looks to train hard this week to sharpen up on a few self-inflicted errors it made during the game.  Contributing to the teams only three goals was Jackson Marsh with a goal in the fourth quarter.  The team takes on a tough Melbourne High School team on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 10:3oam at Western Oval 1.

Our Division 1 team had a tough match up this week as they played against a good Williamstown team.  The team played well but unfortunately came up a little short falling to Williamstown 12-7.  The teams point leaders for this game were Matt Davies with 4 goals and Jay Coster with 2 goals.  The team is very eager to get back out of the field and train for their next tough match up against Chadstone on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 2:45pm at home on Angliss Reserve 2.

Our very strong State League team took on a tough Malvern team this past weekend in a high scoring game.  The team looked strong in the first half and eventually came out with a strong 19-17 victory.  This win keeps the teams now 10 game winning streak alive this season.  Leading the team this week in points were James Lawerson with 3 goals and 2 assists, Chris Plumb and Jordan Germershausen also contributed with 4 goals each. The team hopes to keep this win streak alive as they take on Williamstown on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 2:45pm at Fearon Reserve 1

Women’s Divisions

The under 13 girls team took on Newport this past weekend and played a very good and hard fought game.  Our girls came out on top with a final score of 13-3.  The point leaders for this game were Mihiri Dharmabandu with 5 goals and 2 assists and Ebony Norman with 4 goals.    The team looks to keep its winning ways alive as they take on Eltham/Surrey Park on Sunday July 2, 2017 at 9:00am at Mont Albert Reserve.

The under 15 girls team played a great game this past weekend getting a great team win over a solid Newport team.  The final score of the game was 8-6 giving the Footscray girls a small margin of victory.  The point leaders in this game were Nikala Patsolaridis with 3 goals, Alannah Hibbard and Lily Gerardi each with 2 goals.  The team looks to keep things rolling against Eltham/Surrey Park on Sunday July 2, 2017 at 10:15am at Mont Albert Reserve.

Our under 17 girls took on Williamstown this past weekend and it was a great game to watch if you are a footscray fan.  The final score was 14-2 with the Footscray girls getting the big win showing that it has offensive fire power as well as great team defense.  Point leaders for this game were Nikala Patsolaridis with 6 goals, Lucinda brewer with 3 goals, and Georgia Latch with 2 goals and 1 assist.   The team looks to keep its winning ways going against Eastside on Sunday July 2, 2017 at 11:30am at Caulifield Park 1.

Our A grade team played a very hard game this past weekend taking on Newport. The final score of the game was 7-8 with Footscray coming up a little short of a win this week.  Leading the team for this week’s game was Rhiannon Birch with 3 goals and 1 assist, and Samantha Ahmed, Samantha Smith, Anika Dawe, and Lauren Mclain each contributed with a goal.  The girls look to bounce back against Williamstown Women on Sunday July 2, 2017 at 1:15pm at Fearon Reserve.

The State League girls took on a solid Williamstown team this past weekend and it was a great day to wear green.  The girls had a convincing 21-5 win with the offense exploding and a tough defense making stops.  The point leaders for this week’s game were Sarah Mollison with 6 goals and 2 assists and Danelle Mollison with 2 goals and 2 assists.   The girls look forward to training this week as they take on Caulifield on Sunday July 2, 2017 at 12:30 at Caulifield Park 1.
