With the ongoing lockdown and uncertain COVID situation, Lacrosse Victoria today made the decision to cancel the 2021 season.
There was hope of a possible reduced finals series, but this week’s lockdown extension from the state government has prevented that from happening.
The FLC committee canvassed options with LV as well as our local state member Melissa Horne about potentially extending the season, but unfortunately that is not possible.
The committee is disappointed a promising season has come to a close, but is proud of the efforts of everyone in season 2021 – from players, to parents, to coaches, to umpires and referees, to team managers, to coordinators and to every single person who spared their time in some capacity to help the club.
The cancellation of the season does not mean the end of lacrosse in 2021, with LV committed to completing the under-15 carnival whenever possible, and summer 6v6 and box lacrosse competitions both planned to go ahead.
Senior presentation night has been planned for Friday, November 12, with junior presentation details to come soon.
