Men’s Divisions

This past weekend all three of our under 11 teams played in the second lightning carnival.  Each of our three teams were in different divisions.  The green team was in the crocodile’s division.  The green team had a great day at the tournament winning 2 out of their 3 games which was enough to win the division and bring the pennant home.  The Footscray silver team was in the kangaroo division and they also had a great day winning 2 games and they tied the third game.  This division was also won by our Footscray silver team bringing home the pennant in this division as well.  The last team to compete on the day was the Footscray white team which competed in the koala’s division.  This team went undefeated on the day playing as a team and won their division as well.  The under 11 Footscray teams swept the lightning carnival taking home all three pennants at the event.  It was a great season this year with all three teams earning a premiership at the end.  It’s tough to say but this is the end of the season but there still will be training during the week so that the kids can prepare for a big match up against a very competitive Footscray parents team in the coming weeks.

Our terrific under 13 team this past weekend had a bye week.  The team plans to train hard this week and improve on their game.  The team gets back in action this coming Saturday August 19, 2017 against Caulfield/Malvern at 9:00am at Caulfield Park 1.

The under 15’s played a tough game against Surrey Park this past weekend.  It was a close game from start to finish with the boys unfortunately falling 9-7.  The team played well as a team with the point leaders being Henry Murphy with 2 goals and 1 assist, Kyle Chamberlain with 2 goals, and Elliot Johns, Broden Watson, and Dean Arapidis each had a goal.  The team looks to keep improving on their skills as they have a bye this coming weekend.

Our under 17 team played a good Moreland/Surrey Park team this past weekend.  The team got out to a slow start in the early quarters of the game but then turned it on winning the game by a score of 12-3.  The team once again was very well balanced on the day with the scoring coming from multiple different people.  The guys looks to keep up the hard work as they take on Camberwell this coming Saturday August 19, 2017 at 10:30am at Eric Raven Reserve.

Our tough division 3 team played a good Melbourne University team this past weekend.  The game was a hard fought game by both teams with Footscray coming out on top 11-5.  The point leaders in this great game were Greg Mollison with 4 goals, Brendon Fuzy with 3 goals, and Chris Marsh, Hayden Pinkerton, Taradon Yongpadcha, and Robert Conn all contributing with a goal each.  The team looks to keep things rolling as they face Altona/Wyndham this coming Saturday August 19, 2017 at 12:45pm at Angliss Reserve 1.

Our great division 1 team played a tough Melbourne University team this past weekend.  The team played a complete game coming out on top with a score of 12-8.  The point leaders on the day were Jamie Gathercole with 9 goals, Thomas Mcdonald had 1 goals and 2 assists, and Xavier Fiorentini and Matt Davies each contributed with a goal.  The team looks to keep up the hard work as they take on Eltham this coming Saturday August 19, 2017 at 2:45pm at Lower Eltham Park 2.

Our great state league team took on a tough Caulfield team this past weekend.  The team put together almost a full game coming off a great win against Camberwell.  The team came out on top with a score of 22-10.  The point leaders on the day were Peter Kwas with 6 goals and 1 assist, Mile Blair with 5 goals, and James Lawerson with 4 goals and 1 assist. The team looks to keep building off this win as they take on Moreland this coming Saturday August 19, 2017 at 2:45pm at Angliss Reserve.

Women’s Divisions

Our under 13 girls team took on a good Camberwell team this past weekend.  The team played a complete game winning the contest 11-4.  The team played a great team game with the point leaders on the day being Great Murphy with 4 goals, Mihiri Dharmabandu with 3 goals and 1 assist, and Yvette Hoang with 1 goal and 2 assists. The team looks to keep up the hard work as they take on Williamstown Women Gold this coming Sunday August 20, 2017 at 9:00am at Angliss Reserve 1.

The under 15 girls team played a tough opponent in Camberwell this past weekend. The game was a close one the entire time with our girls unfortunately coming out with a loss 7-6.  The point leaders on the day were Lucinda Brewer with 2 goals, Nikala Patsolaridis with 2 goals, and Petra Hansby and Yvette Hoang each had a goal.  The team looks to bounce back from this as they face Newport this coming Sunday August 20, 2017 at 10:15am at Angliss Reserve 1.

Our great A grade team took on Surrey Park this past Sunday.  The team played a complete game from start to finish earning the victory with a score of 14-6.  The point leaders on the day were Rhiannon Birch with 3 goals, Leach Mravlek had 2 goals and 1 assist, and Samantha Smith and Laruen Mclain had 2 goals each.  The team hopes to keep up the hard work as they play Newport this coming Sunday August 20, 2017 at 1:15pm at P.J. Lynch Reserve 1.

Our great State League team played Newport this past Sunday.  The team played great team lacrosse grabbing the convincing win 11-5.  The point leaders for the day were Sarah Mollison with 7 goals, Verity Clough had 2 goals, Danelle Mollison and Isabella Murphy each had a goal.  The girls look to keep up the hard work in training this coming week and next as they have a bye week this coming weekend.
