Around the Grounds- Weekly Results

The under 11s this weekend played a scratch match against themselves on Saturday morning.  The teams will continue to train on during the week for the next two weeks having another scratch match this coming Saturday August 26, 2017 at Angliss Reserve 1 and then the much anticipated parents v kids match on September 2nd.

Our under 13 team played against a mixed Caulfield/Malvern team this past Saturday. The team played hard but in the end came lost by a score of 21-1.  The lone scorer on the day was Spencer Walsh. The team had a long, fun and competitive season with a record ending at 1-13-1.  Thank you to all that participated this year and we are looking forward to next season.

Our under 15 team had a bye this week.  The team starts its run in the Finals this coming Saturday August 26, 2017 at 10:30am at Caulfield Park 2 against rival Williamstown.

The under 17 boys played Camberwell this past Saturday morning.  This game was a big game for the team and they came through getting the win by a score of 11-3.  The goal scorers on the day were Joel Kukucka with 4 goals, Hayden Parsons with 3 goals, Eden Hanna-Roberts with 2 goals and Jasper Hanna-Roberts with 2 goals.  The team looks to build off these wins as they face the combined team of Caulfield/Malvern/Chadstone at 10:30am at P.J. Lynch Reserve on Saturday August 26, 2017.

Division 3 this week played Altona/Wyndham at home.  The team took the lead early and never looked back as they won 18-0. The point leaders for the game were Jamie Gathercole with 5 goals and 1 assist, Greg Mollison with 5 goals and 1 assist, and Chris Marsh with 3 goals.  The team has one final game of the regular season this coming Saturday August 26, 2017 against Bendigo at 2:30pm at Maiden Gully Recreation Reserve.

Division 1 played against Eltham this week at Eltham.  The team looked to improve on an already great season and they did just that as they got the win by a score of 10-4.  Leading the day in points were Matt Davies with 3 goals and 1 assist, Andrew Regan with 2 goals and 1 assist, and Ben Mccarthy with 2 goals.  The team looks to cement a finals berth when they take on rival Williamstown at Angliss Reserve 1 on Saturday August 26, 2017 at 2:45pm.

State League took on Moreland this past Saturday a little banged up.  The team got out to an early lead and never looked back as they finished the day on top 20-8.  The point leaders on the day were James Lawerson who had 6 goals and 2 assists, Anthony Biscardi had 5 goals and Miles Blair and Jordan Germershausen each had 3 goals.  The team looks to end the regular season with an undefeated record as they take on Surrey Park this coming Saturday August 26, 2017 at 2:45pm at Mont Albert Reserve.

Women’s Divisions

Our under 13 girls team played their last regular season game this past Sunday against Williamstown Women Gold.  The team fought hard for the entire game giving it their all but unfortunately came up short losing by a score of 11-6.  The point scorers on the day were Mihiri Dharmabandu who had 4 goals and 1 assist, Ebony Norman who had 1 goal and 1 assist and Abbie Yu who had 1 goal.  The team looks to make its first step towards the grand final as they take on Williamstown Women Gold on Sunday August 27, 2017 at Caulfield Park 2 at 9:00am.

Under 15s took on Newport this past Sunday in their final regular season game.  The team played well giving it everything they had but, unfortunately came up short losing by a score of 11-5.  The point leaders on the day were Nikala Patsolaridis who had 2 goals and 2 assists, Jessie Carolin-Vandenberg had 2 goals and Lucinda Brewer had 1 goal.  The team looks to start the finals off with a big win as they face Newport on Sunday August 27, 2017 at Caulfield Park 2 at 10:15am.

The under 17 team took on Eastside this past Sunday for their last regular season game.  It was a competitive game with our girls coming out on top by a score of 13-7.  The point leaders on the day were Georgia Latch with 7 goals and 3 assists, Bonnie Yu with 3 goals and 2 assists, Nikala Patsolaridis with 2 goals and Finn Hicks Bullock had 1 goal.  The girls look to continue its momentum as they start the finals against Williamstown Women at 11:30am at Caulfield Park 2 on Sunday August 27, 2017.

The A grade women’s team played against Newport this past weekend.  It was a close game with the girls coming out on top 8-7.  The point leaders on the day were Bonnie Yu with 2 goals and 2 assists, Rhiannon Birch with 3 goals, and Melanie Lawerson, Alexandra Davies and Isabella Murphy each had 1 goal in the game.  As the team heads in to the finals they start by facing Newport this coming Sunday August 27, 2017.

State league had a bye this past Sunday.  The team still played a game against some of our state league men’s team as well as some parents of the girls on the team.  The girls are back in action next Sunday August 27, 2017 at Caulfield Park 1 against Caulfield at 3:00pm.
