Men’s Divisions

The under 11s played another scratch match this past weekend to get ready for their highly anticipated matchup versus the parents. We expect this one to be a hotly contested matchup with plenty of fun to be had by all. The club will provide sticks for the parents to use so we encourage all parents to get involved.

The under 15s had their first game of the finals this past Saturday against Williamstown.  The boys fought hard and competed for most of the game but in the end lost by a score of 11-5.  The scorers on the day were Kyle Chamberlain had 2 goals, Elliot Johns had 2 goals, and Broden Watson had a goal as well.  The team had a great season and we are looking forward to next season.

The under 17s had their last regular season game of the year this past weekend against Caulfield/Malvern/Chadstone.  It was a close game with the boys fighting hard at every contest.  Unfortunately, the boys lost by a score of 11-7 with the point leaders on the day being Jarrod Parsons with 3 goals and 1 assist. Jasper Hanna-Roberts with 2 goals and 1 assist, Joel Kukucka with 1 goal and 1 asisst, and Hayden Parsons contributed with 1 goal.  The team looks to start off the finals by bouncing back as they play Caulfield/Malvern/Chadstone again at 10:30am on Saturday September 2, 2017.

Our Division 3 tram traveled to Bendigo this past weekend to take on Bendigo in their last regular season game.  The team played a strong game from start to finish with the final score being 15-6 in favor of Footscray.  The point leaders on the day were Greg Mollison with 4 goals, Hayden Pinkerton with 4 goals, Richard Tonelli with 3 goals and 1 assist, and Jamie Gathercole and Brendon Fuzy each contributed with 2 goals.  The team starts its run in the finals this coming Saturday September 2, 2017 as they face Eltham at 12:45pm.

Division 1 took on Williamstown this past weekend in their final regular season game of the year.  The game was a one-sided game with our boys losing the game by a score of 19-3. It was a heart breaking day for division one as they were knocked out of the final four by percentage. The goal scorers were Robert Buchhorn had 1 goal, Bayley Guymer had 1 goal, and Matt Davies had 1 goal.  The team had a great season and we are looking forward to next season. It was a great season by our division 1 side with injuries from state league and division 1 hurting them at critical stages throughout the year.

State league played Surrey Park this past weekend in a hard-fought game. In what was meant to be a dead rubber with both team already qualified for finals the competitiveness of both sides quickly took over. Our boys started slow but steadied and ended up coming away with the win 16-12 to finish the regular home and away season undefeated which is a massive effort by all involved and the first time in club history this has happened.  The point leaders on the day were Jordan Germershausen with 5 goals, Anthony Biscardi had 3 goals, James Lawerson with 2 goals and 1 assist, and Chris Plumb had 2 goals.  The team looks make its first steps towards the premiership as they take on Camberwell to go straight into the grand final this Saturday September 2, 2017 at 2:45pm at Altona Lacrosse Club.

Women’s Divisions

Our under 13 girls team played their first game of the finals this past Sunday against Williamstown Women Gold.  The game was a close game for most of the day but sad to say that Williamstown got the win by a score of 6-3.  The team’s scorers were Mihiri Dharmabandu with 2 goals, and Greta Murphy with 1 goal.  The team looks to bounce back from this loss as they take on Eastside in the second round of the finals on Sunday September 3, 2017 at 9:00am.

The under 15 girls team had their first game of the finals this past Sunday against a tough Newport team.  The girls played hard but in the end, came up a little short losing by a score of 8-4.  The team’s scorers on the day were Lily Gerardi with 2 goals, Lucinda Brewer with 1 goal, and Nikala Patsolaridis had 1 goal.  The team looks to work its way to the grand final but it will have to go through rival Williamstown Women Blue on Sunday September 2, 2017 at 10:15am to get there.

Under 17 girls took on Williamstown Women in their first finals game this past Sunday.  The girls played really well in a back and fourth game but in the end came up short losing by a score of 8-7.  The point leaders on the day were Nikala Patsolaridis with 3 goals and 1 assist, Georgia Latch with 2 goals, Bonnie Yu and Isabella Murphy each contributed with a goal.  The team looks to redeem themselves in the second round this coming weekend as they face Eastside on Sunday September 2, 2017 at 11:30am.

A grade played Newport this past Sunday in the first round of finals.  The game was a close game for most of the game until Footscray broke away finishing the day on top with a score of 7-4.  The point leaders on the day were Rhiannon Birch with 3 goals and 1 assist, Samantha Smith had 2 goals, and Leah Mravlek and Jennie Dao each contributed with a goal.  With this win the girls have cemented a place in the grand final where they will play the winner of the Newport versus Eltham/Melbourne University on Sunday September 10, 2017.

Our state league women’s team played Caulfield in their last regular season game of the year.  The team finished the year just as strong as they started with a victory by a score of 12-3.  The point leaders on the day were Danelle Mollison who had 4 goals, Sarah Smith had 3 goals and 1 assist, Sarah Mollison had 2 goals and 3 assists, and Naomi Lane and Stella Justice-Allen each contributed with 1 goal and 1 assist.  With their last win the girls have sealed a spot in the grand final on Sunday September 10, 2017 at 3:00pm against the winner of Newport versus Caulfield.  Our state league women also finshed the regular season undefeated, congratulations to all involved and best of luck in the grand final.
